Who is a Good Candidate for LASIK?

While LASIK is one of the most popular vision correction procedures, not everyone is a good candidate. Generally, good LASIK candidates: 

• Are 18 years or older 
• Have nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism within the range that LASIK can correct 
• Have had stable vision for at least one year 
• Are not pregnant or nursing 
• Do not have autoimmune conditions like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or Sjogren’s syndrome that could interfere with the LASIK healing process 
• Do not have eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, or severe dry eye 
• Have thick enough corneas to create a corneal flap 
• Have realistic expectations about the results of LASIK
